Get out of Rome and into one of Italy’s most underrated cities, Napoli!

Get outa Rome and a little off the beaten path into one of Italy’s most beautiful treasures—NAPOLI!

My cousin once told me that her dad described Naples as a pretty woman with dirty feet (there is litter in some areas).

However overall Naples is probably one of the most charming cities in Italy—and that’s saying a lot, since Italy is known for its enchanting beauty.

What makes this city so magical though is not just the food and architecture, but the people! Naples is known to have some of the friendliest people in all of Italy and I can attest to that.

As a solo traveler in Southern Italy, I found myself not alone for long. Whether it’s hanging out at Miseno beach in Bacoli and meeting a new female friend along the way or kayaking with Kayak Napoli over in Posillipo, there was usually a good conversation to be had.

Here is a small random list of things I did:

Hike the Path of Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) on the Almafi Coast! This is roughly about a 2-4 hour hike.

Wander over to Lido Schiiacchetiello and become like the Greek hero Odysseus who became enchanted with the Flegrean coast.

Travel back in time to 79 CE, when the city of Pompeii was destroyed in an eruption by Mount Vesuvius.

Go get your hair done by Afro Beaute Coiffeur chez Bintou!

It’s a random thing to do in a city, but Italy has a good number of citizens from Africa and this girl definitely needed her hair did, ask anyone around. LOL

*They also have a beauty supply store, so if you are in need of some hair products, look no further.

Afro Beaute

Stroll over to the Capodimonte Museum to take in the art and the views from the Palace and park! It covers 134 hectares of land, so you can legit just spend your whole day chilling.

Head over to upscale Posiliipo and kayak with the folks with at Kayak Napoli! They give guided tours complete with wine.

Personally I did a gorgeous sunset tour and came back again the next day to wander around on the kayaks by myself.

Hang out at Dante Square. What a better way to spend a day in Italy, than hanging out at one of the town squares.

I strolled through different stores, hung out with friends, and slurped 1 dollar alcoholic granita.

*For my fellow Americans: Granita is like Italian ice, but only better. They are like sisters who grew up on two different continents. “Mom” had Granita first and then came over to the US and created it’s “replica”.

A city of artists. You can stroll through the city and catch quite a bit of street art. Sometimes there is nothing better than wandering.

Spotted around the neighborhood of Quartieri Spagnoli.

For all you futbol nerds, hop the train over to Mostra and check out the Maradona Stadium!

Or better yet take an airbnb in the area to get a taste of the local flavor.

Stroll the upscale Chiaia district at night and take it in the beauty.

Head over to Bacoli and hang out with the locals at Miseno and Miliscola beach. I had a great time meeting locals and making new friends.

Stroll through “Christmas tree Alley” ( Via San Gregorio Armeno) for some knickknacks.

*Who is this guy??

Take in one of the many gorgeous churches and get some divinity in your life.

Eat your way through Naples of course! It’s what Napoli is most famous for :).

While I didn’t do much, Naples is a great place to hang out for however long you can and just take in the people, the food, and the culture.

I, personally rented an Airbnb for a month at a good price in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood and basically just chilled :).
